Patriotic Worship, Picnic & Pie Contest - July 6

Land of the free.....

God has truly blessed America in so many ways!  Freedom is one of the blessings that has come a high price.  The cost?  The lives of many men & women who have served in the military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines & Peace Corp.

On Sunday, July 6 we will celebrate America's freedom and honor those who have and continue to defend our freedom!

WANTED:  We need singers & band members for the worship services.  Contact James Lavender at 972-447-9887, 411 or james.lavender@princeofpeace.org.

PICTURES:  We need your military picture for the Patriotic Worship service!  Please email pictures to Cathy Weiss at cathy.weiss@princeofpeace.org.  If you have a picture to be scanned, please put it in Cathy's box behind the receptionist's desk in the Sanctuary.  There is a list of names at the receptionist desk of people who submitted pictures last year .  These pictures will be used again, unless you notify Cathy.

PICNIC: The picnic will begin at 11am in the Fellowship Center.  The Holy Smokers will be grillin’ some Angus burgers and hot dogs to go with some baked beans and chips and ice cream.  Yum!

Care

We Are Here to Serve You

Our Care Ministry has several resources available to help people through the church office, 972-447-9887. Professional help is available through Lutheran Counseling Service, 214-336-1866, and volunteer Stephen Ministers can be arranged through Judy Laun, 972-416-4843.

Families in Need of a Car

We have two families who need transportation but cannot buy a car.  Neither one can qualify for a bank loan, they have maxed out their credit cards, and they do not have the savings to purchase a car.  They have full time jobs, and could pay for the taxes, insurance, and general maintenance. The gift of a car gives a family the means to get to work and school without missing a rent or utility payment.  Typically, the cars we receive are high mileage, functional vehicles that simply get people across town. If you have a car to donate that is ready to pass inspection, or needs less than $500 in repairs, please contact Dave Rahberg at 972-447-9887, ext. 429 or dave.rahberg@princeofpeace.org.

We have one volunteer mechanic who inspects the cars. We pay for the parts that need repair. He could use some “wrench turning” help, too. If you want to help support the car ministry with a cash donation, please make that note on your check.  With your gifts, we can help families in a meaningful way.

Food Pantry

School is out and we all know what comes next...VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!

VBS is a MAJOR event at Prince of Peace and a great opportunity to Expand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 19:18, Jesus said "Let the children come to me and do not stop them. Children like these are part of the kingdom of God."

This month the Food Pantry is partnering with the Vacation Bible School ministry to...

ROCK THE HOUSE!

Please support VBS with donations of the following items as soon as possible for use the week of June 23:

Tostitos Chips  - 15 oz. bags
Lemonade (yellow) mix  - 34 quart or equivalent
Cold brew iced tea  - 12 quart
Wet Wipes  - travel packs (soft sided)
Cases of bottled water

The Food Pantry continues to support those in need in our congregation and surrounding communities. This month we would appreciate donations* of the following items:

Velveeta
Canned fruit
Laundry detergent
Jelly
Mayonnaise
Cake/Brownie mixes

…and we can always use your extra manufacturer's coupons to stretch our donated dollars!

* The Food Pantry donation bin is now located next to the stairs coming from the sanctuary into the Fellowship Center.
