Care

Families in Need of a Car

We have two families who need transportation, but cannot buy a car.  Neither one can qualify for a bank loan, they have maxed out their credit cards, and they do not have the savings to purchase a car.  They have full time jobs, and could pay for the taxes, insurance, and general maintenance. The gift of a car gives a family the means to get to work and school without missing a rent or utility payment.  Typically, the cars we receive are high mileage, functional vehicles that simply get people across town. If you have a car to donate that is ready to pass inspection, or needs less than $500 in repairs, please contact Dave Rahberg at 972-447-9887, ext. 429 or dave.rahberg@princeofpeace.org.

We have one volunteer mechanic who inspects the cars. We pay for the parts that need repair. He could use some “wrench turning” help, too. If you want to help support the car ministry with a cash donation, please make that note on your check.  With your gifts, we can help families in a meaningful way.

Food Pantry

May Day…just how many of us can still remember when as children we made little paper baskets and picked some violets and delivered them to folks in our neighborhood?   Maybe we should go back to simple ways of showing our love for our neighbors.

The support that the congregation of Prince of Peace gives to our Food Pantry and the Ministries we partner with continues to show many people in need that we love them.

Wish list for May:

Pancake syrup
Saltine crackers
Cookies
Jelly
Canned ham
Canned chicken
Hamburger Helper
Cereal (not oatmeal we have plenty of it)

Also, we are partnering with Missions again this month to help stock the kitchen in the Habitat for Humanity house.  We need new kitchen items like a toaster, a can opener, dishes, linens, flatware and pots & pans.  Please include the receipt so that if we get two of an item we can exchange it prior to sending everything on to the house.
