Weekly Message:
Joel Dittmer - Director of Information
Technology |
NEW! Beginning with this issue of the e-letter, Pastor Luke will write the
weekly message the first Wednesday of each month. The remaining messages
for each month will come from various Ministry Directors!
Enjoy!
Which vote was America watching closest this past week? Was it the Clinton
vs. Obama race in Oregon and Kentucky? More likely, it was the David vs.
David race on American Idol in California. The popular music contest reached
its conclusion Wednesday night by crowning the newest singing sensation!
(For the record, there were about 3 million votes cast in the primaries and
about 97 million votes cast on the television show!)
It
is human nature to put people on a pedestal. Whether it is a popular
entertainer, a political leader, or a Biblical figure, we are always looking
to find the "chosen one" who is something better than has ever come along
before. However, as we learned from Pastor Luke's teaching last Sunday, we
need to avoid anointing these people as "super saints" and start looking to
see how they are being used as an instrument in God's hands.
Moses was truly an Egyptian Idol. In Exodus 2, we saw how he fell hard and
showed his human nature. Still, when God called him again from the burning
bush, Moses was available to listen and faithful to act.
This Sunday, we continue to follow the ups and downs of Moses as he comes
down from the mountain of the Lord and promptly runs into a big problem.
Pastor Nathan will bring us a message entitled "The Bridegroom of Blood,"
based on Exodus 4. You may want to read that one in advance to see what it
is all about!
Fortunately for Moses and all of us, there is a "chosen one" that deserves
to hold the crown of Universal Idol. Jesus Christ lived the perfect life we
couldn't live and died a death that we deserved. Through his resurrection,
he broke the prison chains of sin that have held us captive. We are saved
and can enjoy a life that is better than any rock star - a life walking in a
personal relationship with Jesus.
Come and find out more this Sunday...
Blessings!

Food Pantry
May Day…just how many of us can still remember when as children we made little paper baskets and picked some violets and delivered them to folks in our neighborhood? Maybe we should go back to simple ways of showing our love for our neighbors.
The support that the congregation of Prince of Peace gives to our Food Pantry and the Ministries we partner with continues to show many people in need that we love them.
Wish list for May:
Pancake syrup Saltine crackers Cookies Jelly Canned ham Canned chicken Hamburger Helper Cereal (not oatmeal we have plenty of it)
Also, we are partnering with Missions again this month to help stock the kitchen in the Habitat for Humanity house. We need new kitchen items like a toaster, a can opener, dishes, linens, flatware and pots & pans. Please include the receipt so that if we get two of an item we can exchange it prior to sending everything on to the house.
